Swanland School PTA is a group of parents dedicated to raising money for our school so that our children can have the best educational opportunities possible, even when the school budget doesn’t cover it.
We work closely together with the teachers to identify what the children at Swanland School need. Over the years that has included new library books, playground equipment, sports equipment, IT equipment, including tablets, as well as the Praise and Reward scheme, part-funding school trips and much, much more! More recently we have raised thousands of pounds for our new astro turf field, which is a fantastic success. As well as an outdoor climbing frame that will be constructed this spring/summer term.
We encourage as many parents as possible to get in touch and get involved. You may wish to join the PTA committee or, if you feel you don’t have time for that, you can become one of our event volunteers. We usually need a bit more help at our larger fundraising events – the Christmas Fayre and the Summer BBQ.
Our main goal for 2017-2018 is to raise enough money for our "Reading to Succeed" scheme which will update, replace and replenish our book selection for the whole school so our children can improve their reading skills. Currently children are not able to swap books when needed as there are not enough available for each level. Teachers from each year group will submit book requests and these will be fulfilled as soon as money becomes available.
Our larger goal for the future would be to replace the production lights in the main school hall. The current lighting system isn’t really fit for purpose anymore and needs a complete overhaul. We all love to see our children perform in school plays. If we want them to be able to continue to do that, we need £6000.
Please join us to help make this happen.
We thank you for all the support you have given over the years and we thank you in advance for supporting the next year’s fundraising activities.

This is by far our biggest fundraiser and is getting better every year. This past July 2017 we raised over £4000 from this one event. Our biggest and most successful year so far!! Located at Humberfield Farm in Swanland, not only do we have wonderful BBQ food, including a hog roast, we have a fantastic band to entertain us while we eat, drink from our licensed bar and be merry! As well as children’s drinks and sweets stalls, we have face painting, fun tattoos, the ever popular chocolate tombola and fill-a-jar stands as well as fantastic games designed and created by our Year 6 children. Everyone is encouraged to bring his or her own picnic chairs and blankets. It’s a great night – and it’s a must-be-seen-at event!
The Christmas Fayre is one of our biggest fundraisers and is hugely popular. Last year we raised nearly £1,500! As well as our own stalls, including Chocolate Tombola, Fill-a-Jar and Sand art we invite local businesses and artisans to show off their Christmas goods. Father Christmas always makes an appearance and children can have their photograph taken with him!
Don’t forget to visit our delicious cake stall. You can also lunch while listening to Christmas carols sung by the school choir.
Every year, the children create their very own Christmas designs during their art lessons, which are then transformed into personal Christmas Cards, gift cards and mugs for parents and grandparents to buy. It’s a great fundraiser and it’s lots of fun for the children too. It typically raised around £600.
Mr. Chu’s Chinese Spring Celebration
This is a great opportunity for parents to get dressed up for an amazing Chinese Banquet at Mr Chu’s China Palace, one of Hull’s best-known restaurants. While it may be a fairly new addition to our usual annual fundraisers, it has proven to be extremely popular, it is always very well attended and we all have a fantastic evening. The raffle on the night also means you get the chance to win some amazing prizes! Last year we raised close to £1500!
Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Egg Hunt is a fundraiser that takes place just before Easter in the Spring Term. All Pupils are given the opportunity to fill in an Easter Egg Hunt grid containing 9 squares. A member of their family or friends can buy each square for £1. When the grid is filled, the children bring back their completed grid along with £9 and it is entered into a raffle. There is a special number drawn out of the 9 numbers. Every grid will win an egg and the person that has chosen the winning number will receive their prize. In addition, there are 3 extra special prizes awarded randomly by raffle to only 3 grids. This fundraiser is great fun for the children to particapate in during the Easter festivities and last year it raised £600.
Swanland Has Talent
While the children are busy with the relay and the potato race, we get busy selling drinks and snacks to parents, grandparents and younger siblings cheering from the sidelines!
Nearly New Uniform
As parents, we all know that no sooner have we bought new uniform than they’ve already outgrown it – and it still looks as good as new! That’s why we have a nearly new uniform stall during every Parent’s Evening – in October and again in March. It’s amazing how much we raise from this even though we just ask for a donation, rather than having fixed prices. Don’t forget to pop in to the school hall before or after you see your teacher.
Bags 2 School
Bags 2 School is a free, fun and easy way to raise funds. In fact, last year we raised £500! We encourage you to clear out your wardrobes and bag up all your unwanted clothes, handbags, shoes, soft toys, linen, curtains, towels and bedding. Don’t worry, we will provide you with the bag! We then receive funds depending on the weight of everything we collect. So simple – and a great way to help declutter!
Stamptastic – replacement for traditional name tags and raise money for the PTA with every order
No more sewing or ironing on labels, no more losing your pencil case or P.E. kit! Stamptastic offer a personalised stamp based naming solution that can be used on fabric, metal, wood & some plastics. A parent found Stamptastic online and passed the information to the PTA as any order placed will result in a percentage being paid back to the PTA funds. Please have a look on their website at http://www.stamptastic.co.uk/ and if you would like to make an order quote “HU14 3NE” in the “PTA school/club cashback code” box when completing your order.
