Welcome to Year 6!
The Year 6 teachers this year are Miss Green (6KG) and Mrs Neal and Mrs Sivarajan (6AN/JS). The Year 6 teaching assistant this year is Mrs Lamb. Additionally, Mrs Martin and Mrs Hamilton (who has just got married and was previously Miss Cooper) will also be working with our year group every week.
PE and Games lessons
These are usually on a Monday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child has the appropriate kit, clearly labelled, in school.
As in previous years, please listen to your child read as often as possible each week, help them to practise and learn their tables and spellings and encourage them to practise their Maths on Mangahigh. The Year 6 expectation is to read aloud at least 5 times every week. In your child's homework diary, please sign your initials next to the pages your child has read aloud and discussed with you each day.
Please be aware that additional homework is given out every Friday and the children are rewarded for handing their completed work in on a Monday morning.
At times, your child may be given extra homework to practise particular skills. Please remember to check and sign your child's homework diary every weekend. There are homework deadlines, useful reminders and details of upcoming events for you to see.
Our Year Group News – 12th September 2019
It’s the beginning of another exciting year in Year 6! This term we will be studying St. Lucia, as well as the world map, in our geography topic.
Our first class text is ‘Holes' by Louis Sachar, which we will soon be linking to some of our writing.
As the end of term approaches, we will, of course, begin work on our own, exciting Y5/6 Christmas production. There will be more news on this, in due course!
