Year 6

Welcome to Year 6! The Year 6 teachers are Miss Green (6KG) and Mrs Neal (6AN).  The Year 6 teaching assistant this year is Mrs Lamb and Miss Cooper, Mrs Martin, Mrs Aamir and Mrs van Nieuwkerk are also working with our year group at times.

Our Year Group News – Thursday 4th April 2019

Thank you very much to all the parents who helped with our sewing. We hope you like the finished work which has recently come home.  Thank you too for your donations for tea and coffee on our sewing afternoons.  The children have now spent the money that was raised on some new equipment for break times such as hoops and balls.

We have just visited Christ Church (by the pond) this morning and Reverend Chris has spoken to us about the importance of fair trade and how it can help farmers around the world.  We hope that the children will now be inspired to ask for fair trade chocolate Easter eggs this Easter!  We watched a very interesting video which showed us how fair trade has helped cocoa farmers in the Dominican Republic by guaranteeing them a minimum price for their cocoa so that they can afford to send their children to school. It has also helped their families and communities by raising money to bring water and electricity supplies to their homes and build schools, hospitals and roads.

We hope you have a lovely break this Easter.

PE and Games lessons

These are usually on a Monday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child has the appropriate, labelled kit in school.

Homework

As in previous years, please listen to your child read as often as possible each week, help them to practise and learn their tables and spellings and encourage them to practise their Maths on Mangahigh.

Please be aware that additional homework is given out every Friday and the children are rewarded for handing their completed work in on a Monday morning. At times, your child may be given extra homework to practise particular skills. Please remember to check and sign your child's homework diary every weekend. There are homework deadlines, useful reminders and details of upcoming events for you to see.
