Year 6

Welcome to Year 6! The Year 6 teachers are Miss Green (6KG) and Mrs Neal (6AN).  The Year 6 teaching assistant this year is Mrs Lamb and Miss Cooper, Mrs Martin, Mrs Aamir and Mrs van Nieuwkerk are also working with our year group at times.

Our Year Group News – Thursday 9th May

Right now, we are, of course, very busy preparing for 'Cake Week' next week. (Shhhh - don't mention SATS!) We are very grateful to everyone who has been working hard to support our pupils with marking and feedback on practice papers at home.

We all enjoyed the ‘Tour de Yorkshire’ passing our school last week and hope some of you managed to catch the short report on our whole-school land art that was featured on ‘Look North’ that evening!

We have had some good weather lately and we look forward to seeing the Year 6s enjoying their special privilege of eating lunch on the benches in the quad more frequently as the term goes on.  Of course, we are all especially looking forward to our residential trip to Haworth, in June.  Please keep your fingers crossed for us that the weather will be kind when we are away!

GENERAL INFORMATION

PE and Games lessons

These are usually on a Monday and a Thursday. Please ensure your child has the appropriate, labelled kit in school.

Homework

As in previous years, please listen to your child read as often as possible each week, help them to practise and learn their tables and spellings and encourage them to practise their Maths on Mangahigh.

Please be aware that additional homework is given out every Friday and the children are rewarded for handing their completed work in on a Monday morning. At times, your child may be given extra homework to practise particular skills. Please remember to check and sign your child's homework diary every weekend. There are homework deadlines, useful reminders and details of upcoming events for you to see.
