Class Two
Hello and a warm welcome to Class 2's page.
Here you will find lots of information about of all the things we get up to during our time in Class 2. Keep popping back to see what new, exciting and wonderful things we have been learning about.
We are a mixed Y1/2 class; our teachers are Mrs Noble and Miss Oxtoby, with Mrs McAreavey as our teaching assistant.
Our topic this term is 'Kings, Queens and Castles'; we will learn all about Queen Elizabeth II, explore Queen Victoria's family tree before creating our own, discover all about the life of Richard III, finishing with a few lessons about what it might have been like to live in a castle. We can't wait to get started!
During the children's time in Class 2, we aim to provide inspiring, exciting, engaging and stimulating opportunities to enhance their learning. Wherever possible we provide cross-curricular lessons so that the children are fully emmersed in their topic.
We hope you enjoy following along with us as we discover, explore, create and grow in Class 2.

Black History- Rosa Parks
In Class 2 we explored the life of Rosa Parks. We discussed how she made a monumental change to the black community through one simple act of bravery and defiance; it was profound, courageous and life changing. As a class we discussed equality and what it might mean to have different colour skin in 1950s America. We also talked about segregation and how it might feel to live and work in a society where you are treated differently purely because of the colour of your skin. From these discussions, we created acrostic poems.
Rosa Parks carried over to our Art lessons too; we looked a little bit at the Pop Art movement, as it emerged during the mid-to-late 1950s- around the same time as Rosa Parks made a stand for the black community. Combining the two ideas together, Class 2 used oil pastels to recreate a piece of Art work of Rosa Parks based on the style of Andy Warhol. To create our final masterpiece, we tried to emulate his use of colour and repeated images to make a bold statement; as Rosa Parks did.
