Habitats in our local area

This term we are looking at different habitats in our local area. So far we have visited the school allotment and playing fields to look at the various habitats.

Autumn Creativity

Nature Reserve - Landplan

Courtesy of Mr Russell (Chair of Governors) we visited Landplan where there is a wonderful nature reserve.  We explored the area and found various habitats and looked for plants and animals within the area.

Harvest Hedgehog Bread

We have made Harvest Hedgehog bread.  We mixed the ingredients, kneaded the dough, left the dough to rise then we shaped it into hedgehogs, snipped in the spikes and added rasins for eyes and a nose!! Yummy!!

Planetarium Visit

The whole school have been lucky enough to have a visit from Aurora Plantetarium.  We learned about all the different planets and the space station.  We later came back to school and designed our own planets.

Harvest Thankful Pumpkins

We have made pumpkins thanking God for everything we are grateful for at Harvest time.

A Harvest Fruit Rainbow

First we learned the colours of the rainbow by reciting a well known rhyme.  We then made our spectacular harvest fruit rainbow by chopping and peeling the fruits ourselves .  Afterwards we were lucky enough to eat the delicious rainbow!

Stick Man

Class 1 and Class 2 had a visit to the Hull New Theatre where we saw a very creative performance of Stick Man by Julia Donaldson.  In the afternoon Class 2 were very creative themselves and made their very own wonderful Stick Men!

Christmas Crafts

Christmas Jumper Day

We all participated in Christmas Jumper Day 2019 and donated to Save the Children.

Nativity Writing

Class 1 and Class 2 thoroughly enjoyed their Nativity production this year.  We were lucky enough to have a lovely surprise at the end when Mr and Mrs Palmer brought their donkey Maggie, as we sang along to Little Donkey.

Class 2 also produced some super Nativity writing which on completion we enjoyed reading  to each other.

Christmas Party Day!

We had a wonderful afternoon playing traditional party games and a surprise visitor also turned up at school!  We would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas from Mrs. Noble, Mrs. McAreavey, Mrs. Matthews and all the children in Class 2!

Dragon Artwork

The Image Theatre Company came to school to perform the Reluctant Dragon.  We read stories about dragons, wrote poems, made dragon eggs and produced some wonderful artwork of dragon's eyes.

Chinese New Year

We had a wonderful time learning about Chinese New Year.  We learnt about the Chinese zodiac and The Great Race story.  We made a wonderful display of artwork in our classroom with Chinese writing (our names), fans, dragons and lanterns.  At the end of the day we sampled some Chinese food!! Kung Hey Fat Choy!!

World Book Day 2020

The School Council voted that this year the whole school would dress up in their pyjamas and bring in their favourite book.  The theme for our World Book Day activites were based around Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory.  We designed sweet wrappers, designed and made lollipops, made sweets from playdoh, painted Oompa Lumpas and enjoyed reading our own books as well as listening to our favourites stories.
