Class One

Class 1 Home Learning w/b 5th October 2020

Reception 

Phonics/ Literacy

This week the sounds we are learning are i, n, m and d.

Items in the basket this week: 

Monday:   igloo, indigo, insects   Story- Rainbow

Tuesday:  numicon, number, nine, necklace, nectarine   Story- Numbers Everywhere

Wednesday: mouse, money, melon, mushroom, marshmellow  Story- Not now Bernard (monster)

Thursday: dragonfly, dinosaur, doughnut, domino, dress, doll   Story- Dogger

Friday: Recap the weeks sounds and practice blending sounds together eg nip, pin, dip, dim.  Phonics play phase 2 blending games. 

Everday the children make the letter out of playdoh and learn the action and song.

They  then write their name, practice the letter in their phonics book and draw a picture of something beginning with that sound. 

Maths

All about number 2 

Watch Numberblocks episode 'Two'

Practice formation of numeral 2. Discuss things that come in twos: shoes, socks, legs, eyes, gloves. 

Sing 'The animals came in two by two' 

Number hunt for numeral 2 around the house. 

Continuous Provision

The children are encouraged to access as many different learning areas as possible including, reading area, role play area (house), sandpit, water,  outdoor area (bikes, trikes and scooters), mud kitchen, construction (lego, k-nex, sticklebricks), creative area. 

The challenges in the creative area this week are: 

- Drawing insects

- Counting nine beads to make a necklace

- designing a monster's face

- decorating a card doughnut with hundreds and thousands. 

 

Year 1

Phonics

We are consolidating  phase 4 and working on letter formation and handwriting everyday.

Monday- Buried treasure

Tuesday- Phase 3/4 Naughts and crosses

Wednesday- Yes/ No sentences

Thursday- Sentence dictation in book 

Literacy

We will read and orally rehearse 'The Enormous Turnip' this week.

SPAG We will look at the 'ed' suffix as it crops up several times in this story: pulled, planted. called.

We will look at the 'ur' sound in turnip and practice robot talking longer two syllable words to make sure sounds are not missed out. 

Maths

Sounds and Senses

Class 1 Home Learning w/b 12th October 2020

Reception 

Phonics/ Literacy

This week the sounds we are learning are g, o, c and k.

Items in the basket this week: 

Monday:      goat, grapes, gate (farmyard), globe, guinea pig,  Story- Gorrila 

Tuesday:  orangutang, ostrich, oranges   Story- Oi- Get off our train!

Wednesday: carrot, cup, cat, cow, conkers, caterpillar, crocodile, coins  Story-  Hairy Maclairy from Donaldson's Dairy (cat).

Thursday: kite, king, kitten, kiwi fruit, koala Story- Shark in the park

Friday: Recap the weeks sounds and practice blending sounds together eg pan, cog, tin, top, nip, not etc.   Phonics play phase 2 blending games.

Maths

All about number 3 Understanding the 'threeness of three' 

Numberblocks S1 episode 4 (Three)  S1 Episode 5  (One, Two Three!)

Know that 3 is 1 more than 2. Know that 3 is 2 more than 1. 

Introduce triangles. 

Know that 1+2 =3  and 2+1 =3 

Know that 3-1=2  and 3-1=2

Sing three blind mice

Read The tree little pigs

There isn't a 3p coin, how could we make 3p? 

 

Continuous Provision

The children are encouraged to access as many different learning areas as possible including, reading area, role play area (house), sandpit, water,  outdoor area (bikes, trikes and scooters), mud kitchen, construction (lego, k-nex, sticklebricks), creative area. 

The challenges in the creative area this week are: 

- Painting a globe design onto a paper plate

- Making Orange using primary colours red and yellow

- Making an Autumn Crown using pictures of leaves, conkers and acorns. 

- Cutting out a kite shape and decorating. 

 

Year 1

Literacy

We will innovate 'The Enormous Turnip' this week changing characters and key themes. 

SPAG We will look at using the suffix 's' or 'es' to show a plural. eg dog- dogs, wish- wishes.

Topic

We staring to learn about parts of the body and discussing our five senses in a practical way. We will draw round a child and then label the main parts of their body. Children will independently label their own diagram of the body!

Welcome to Class 1's page. 

Over the term we will share with you some of the exciting activities that we get up to.  We work hard, but have lots of fun.
