Class Four

Our Curriculum

Welcome to Class 4.

Our current topic is Space. The children have been learning about why we get seasons as well as comparing sizes of planets as well as distances from the sun. In Literacy we are learning to describe an alien planet setting and in Maths we are looking at place value.



This term in ICT class 4 will be working on a programme called Scratch. This is a programme that will help the children to explore how to use algorithms to set a programme and create a game.


In RE this term we are looking at freedom and justice. During the lesson the children designed their own t-shirts. This year 6 pupil took the initiative and made her own t-shirt at home. Well done!!

Planetarium Visit

This harf term class 4 had a visit from the Planetarium. All the children really enjoyed this experience!

Mr Waugh Visit

Mr Waugh a published author came into Dunswell school to do a workshop in class 3 and 4. Thank you Mr Waugh we hope to see you again very soon!

E Safety

Class four pupils planned and delivered an E safety lesson to the rest of the school. Over the two weeks the children worked together in three different groups using computers to research and prepare a powerpoint to deliver in each class.


Class four and the whole school enjoyed watching and joining in with the East Riding Music Service performing a range of Christmas songs. 

Christmas Craft Morning

This week in class four parents were invited into school to join their children in a morning of Christmas crafts. Both children and parents had lots of fun. 


Year 6 visited the KCOM stadium each Monday afternoon (for 10 weeks). While they were there, they toured the stadium, visited the gift shop and learned about what goes on behind the scenes on Matchday. From these experiences they were set Literacy, Maths and ICT challenges to enable the children to apply their skills in a real-life situation. 


In literacy the children enjoyed taking part in a shared reading session. During this time the children all had a turn at reading and had a discussion about the story so far and made predictions. 

Spring Term Plan

This term, Class 4 are looking at extreme environments. They will get the opportunity to write a survival guide, understand how different animals are adapted to prosper in their habitats and test the properties of different materials.



Karen Wagg from East Riding Recycling came in to speak to Class 4 about the importance of recycling. The children learned which materials go in which bins and what happens to the waste when it leaves our home.
