Welcome to Class 4's own website page. 

Mr Ward, Mrs Barton and all the children welcome you to our class page.

We look forward to a very successful, challenging but importantly fun year in Class 4!

This term our topic will be World War 2. This will be mainly a History based topic alongside Design and Technology and Art. 


This term we will be learning about the following:

*Literacy – Writing a tension story, Aborigional folktales, persuasive writing around the great barrier reef. 

*Numeracy – Place value, as well as daily CLIC sessions

*Topic - Australia (Geography,History, Art)

*Science - Human growth and developemt- The changes we experience as humans as we grow

*RE – Christmas Story

*PE – Swimming

*PHSE - Global citizenship- rights and responsibilities. 

French- School and time.


This term homework will be focused around reading, spelling, and times tables fluency. It is expected that children in class 4 read at least 3 times per week at home (reading reccord to be signed by an adult) and practise their  times tables and spellings.

Humberside Fire Brigade Visit Dunswell

Today, Humberside Fire Brigade visited Key Stage 2. They spoke with the children about the dangers of fires, what to do if you find a fire and they even got chance to use a fire hose!

Making Anderson shelters

Class 4 bought in things from home to make their Anderson shelters linked to their WW2 topic. Take a look at our pictures below. It was very messy but the children enjoyed this a lot!

Gamelan Music Session

Gary Hammond introduced Class 4 to a range of instruments from Indonesia. All of the children had the opportunity to try out different instruments and work as a group to play a piece of music.

Shakespeare `Hamlet`

Class 4 were using drama to help to inspire writing then they practised performing an opening scene from Hamlet. 

Year 6 trip to London

The children had a fanastic three days in London - from exploring the sights, seeing Matilda at the theatre, riding the London Eye and River boat cruise of the Thames to dining out on the Southbank and shopping in Harrods! Every moment was wonderful. Take a look at some of our pictures.
