Class 3

Welcome to Class 3's own website page. 

Mrs Barrick, Mrs Clayden, Miss Rogerson and all the children welcome you to our class page.

This term our topic will be The Vikings. This will be mainly a History, Art and DT topic. The children will discover the exciting world of the Vikings and learn about why they decided to raid and then settle in Britain. We will be researching, designing and eventually making our very own longships as well!


This term we will be learning about the following:

*Literacy – Writing our own Myths and Legends based around Viking sagas

*Numeracy – Place value, as well as daily CLIC sessions

*Topic - Vikings (history, art and DT based)

*Science - we will have a science focus next half term 

*RE – Belonging to a community 

*PE – Invasion games and gymnastics

*PHSE - Settling in 

French- greetings and family


This term homework will be focused around reading, spelling, and times tables fluency. It is expected that children in class 3 read at least 3 times per week at home (reading record to be signed by an adult) and practise their  times tables and spellings.

Making Circuits!

As part of our Science topic this term, we have made circuits. All children were able to make a complete circuit to light up a light bulb!

Colour Mixing!

We used primary colours to mix secondary colours. We all made our own colour wheel by mixing colours.

Spring Medium Term Plan


Residential trip to Crandale! The year 4 children had lots of fun and enjoyed doing all the fun activities, whilst learning new skills.

World Book Day

KS2 were lucky enough to go to Warton Arms for a World Book Day themed quiz. Back at school, we made our favorite book characters out of potatoes.


We have been practising performing with glockenspiel in Music!


We researched and designed our own comic strip to support our work on the Wimpy Kid diaries.

Map Work

We have been using atlases to locate continents and oceans of the world.


We had to work together as a team to complete a lego task!


We were inspired to create our own 'Lowries' of our playground and local area experimenting with oil pastels, watercolours and chalks. We also made matchstick men and matchstick cats and dogs and learned the famous song well!

The Water Cycle

We made our own water cycle!

Manor Farm

As part of our research on leaflets, we went to Manor Farm to find out more information about this fantastic attraction in our local area. We also had time for a little play!

Science Trip

We loved our school trip to The Streetlife Museum to support our topic of electricity. We made circuits and even met Bob (the skeleton).  

Science - Body

We made our own skeletons and labelled parts of the body.

Humber Bridge

Class 3 and 4 enjoyed a joint trip to the Humber Bridge.
