Mrs Markham, Mrs McAreavey and Miss Rogerson and all the children welcome you to Class 2's website page.  We hope you enjoy looking at our photographs and reading about what we have been learning about this school year!

Great Fire of London

During the first week of the Autumn term Class 2 learned about the Great Fire of London.  We enjoyed creating artwork for a classroom display and sequencing and writing about the events which happened each day during the fire.

Handwriting Stars!!!

Each week the handwriting trophy is awarded in Class 2!  Who will win this week?

A Taste of India

As part of Class 2's topic "Hot and Cold" we have been learning about India.  This included the geography and climate of India, traditions, elephants, henna, clothing, flag, buildings, religion and of course food!

Fruit Salad

As part of our literacy focus this week we have been learning about instruction writing.  We read and followed instructions and made our own fruit salad.  We will be entering into our own "bake off" competition and writing our own recipes!  This is also cross curricula with our science topic of changing foods.

Bake Off!!

As part of our literacy focus of following and writing instructions Class 2 performed our own "Bake off".    We were given a basic bun recipe to follow and we brought some of our own special ingredients to add to the recipe plus our own toppings. 

Chocolate Science

Our science lesson was great fun when we discovered what happened to chocolate when it was heated and cooled again.. Did we make a temprary change or a permanent change to the chocolate?

Children in Need 2016

The whole school enjoyed Children in Need this Year.  We dressed up in our spotty clothes and some of us took part in Dunswell Gots Talent.  Class 2 also made flags to wave at the show.  We all had a super day!

Healthy Eating

As a conclusion to our science topic "Healthy Living" we brought in our own ingredients to make healthy sandwiches.

Whole School Christmas Lunch

A big big big thank you from Class 2 to the lunchtime supervisors and the PTA for a super festive lunch!!


We were lucky enough to walk to Coletta and Tyson Garden Centre to meet two reindeers.

Class 2’s Christmas Party

Christmas Making

Class 2 enjoyed making all these wonderful things to decorate the classroom and then we took them home to decorate our own houses.

Chinese New Year

Class 2 made a dragon and performed a Chinese Dragon Dance to celebrate the Chinese New Year.  We also made masks and bunting and in the afternoon we sampled chinese food from China Red!

The Paper Challenge

Class 2 took this week's City of Culture Challenge - to make something out of paper.  We made elephants, flowers snakes and many other things!

City of Culture Challenge - Nature’s Art

This week's challenge was to think about nature and the beautiful world around us.  Find some objects in nature, like leaves or branches and make something beautiful out of them!

World Book Day 2017

Class 2 enjoyed World Book Day by having a pyjama party!  We enjoyed reading lots of books and listening to stories.

Visit to Hull

During our school trip into Hull City Centre we visited the newly opened Ferens Art Gallery and the Maritime Museum.  We went into Queen Victoria Square and saw all the magnificent buildings and statue of Queen Victoria.  We even touched the Siemans blade which was enormous!  After lunch at MacDonalds we walked around the Old Town following the Fish Trail.

City of Culture Week 2017

The whole school were very lucky to enjoy a full week celebrating Hull City of Culture.  We made commemorative plates as a keepsake.  Class 2's were designed on fish with regards to the fishing industry.  Jess Parkin and Ray Hawker visited the school to talk to us about the fishing trawlers and the work of the trawlermen.  The whole school enjoyed a craft day with all the teachers.  Class 2 made moths, mosaic fishes, aeroplanes and street signs.  On our final day we enjoyed a visit from Swift Caravans who came to talk to us and judged our caravan competition.  The grand finale being fish and chips in the playground!!!!

As we have been learning about money Class 2 decided to make their own shop!  We made price lists and wrote our shopping lists before we went to spend our money!  We had to work out how much we had spent and how much change we would be given!

Starfish Sewing

Following on from our Seaside Topic we decided to put our sewing skills to the test.  Well done everyone you did an amazing job.

End of Year School Trip

The whole of KS1 enjoyed a wonderful end of year trip to Hornsea!
