Welcome to Year 1. Year 1 is 1RP (Mrs Preston and Mrs Yorke) and 1JS/EJ (Mrs Sivarajan, Mrs Jenkinson, Mrs Bell and Miss Carter)
Welcome to Year 1. In Year 1 we have a full time class teacher, Mrs Preston, who is supported by Mrs Yorke in 1 RP. In 1JS/EJ teaching duties are shared between Mrs Sivarajan (Monday and Tuesday) and Mrs Jenkinson (Wednesday, Thursday and Friday). Mrs Sivarajan is supported by Miss Carter, whilst Mrs Jenkinson is assisted by Mrs Bell. We also have Mrs Ellis (1JS/EJ) and Mrs Firth and Mrs Bradbury (1RP) providing additional specific support.
On Wednesday afternoons Mrs Martin will be teaching PE to both classes whilst Miss Cooper will be leading Art and Music sessions. Our second PE sessions are currently timetabled for Friday mornings.
The new year sees the start of our new topic. We don't want to give too much away, but we will be looking out into Space for inspiration for our Literacy and topic work. We will be comparing the journeys of explorers from different ages, writing about the lives of famous explorers, making models and lots of other exciting things. There is a lot to pack into five short weeks!
Just before Christmas we explored numbers to 20. For the initial few weeks of term we will be adding and subtracting numbers within 20. Please continue to check in regularly on Seesaw for updates of things that we are working on in class.
We hope to see as many of you as possible for our Alien mask making sessions in the week before half term. Please see one of the team or contact us on Seesaw with your preferrred times, if you haven't already done so.

Mrs Preston's Moth
Created on Monday 29th January 2018
Here is a picture of the moth created by Mrs Preston's group.
The children have chosen different elements to add to the moths to represent things they feel are important. It features a rainbow to symbolise colour and happiness, a waterfall to symbolise life and it is a link to the pond in our village. The night sky represents peace.
